Forget My Birthday

I turned 66 this year, March 25th to be precise. I generally don’t forget my own birthday, so I wondered why amazon.com sent me a reminder about it?  Did I ask to be reminded?  There are plenty of things I need reminders about–like where I put the car keys, my password on this and that, but not my birthday! Each year I think a little more seriously about my age.   Our lifetime passes quickly as the writer of Psalm 90 points out.  For {Read More}

Women at the Well

“Everyone who drinks from this water will be thirsty again.” John 4:13 –14 This statement could be made over the wells of life in many areas. Over the well of success: Everyone who drinks from this water will be thirsty again. Over the well of pleasure:  Everyone who drinks from this water will be thirsty again. Bride and groom stand before an altar and promise one another faithfulness until death parts them. A father promises a bike to his child at a certain age. We promise ourselves that we are going to do better next month. We all know promises can be broken. Just ask someone who’s been hurt; it can be {Read More}

Single Again

“Delight thyself also in the Lord; and He shall give thee the desires of thine heart!” Psalms 37:4 Being single again is a time of drawing close to the ultimate spouse. Count your moment in time alone with the One who breathed life into you as a priceless treasure, which it is. Maintain and polish the relationship as a {Read More}

Coming Out of the Pit

The Bible refers to our troubles as a pit. Unfortunately most of the pits we find ourselves in have been self induced.   The word pit simply means a hole, a cavity or a miserable and depressing situation.  And I am here to tell you some of us are dealing with some holes in our lives–some depressing and miserable moments in our lives. Look how David described the pit situation in Psalm 40:2 “He brought me up also out of a horrible pit, {Read More}

Journaling Through Loss

Jackie Henry Losing someone we love through death is one of the most stressful events we will ever endure. The stress takes a toll on our emotions, our bodies, and our health. Journal writing can be a simple and practical way to relieve some of that stress and the problems it brings. I found that writing my thoughts in a journal became a great comfort and companion to me. It will catalog your journey of grief. Putting words on paper {Read More}
