Mentoring Moments is Now On GoodReads
January 10, 2012 : Filed under Books & Media, Mentoring, News
Mentoring Moments has formed a book and movie discussion group at Goodreads.com. Our group is open to anyone who would like to read along or share their thoughts on books, movies, and music.
Goodreads is a free forum to track and discuss books. For personal use, Goodreads allows users to create shelves to list books they’ve read, books to be read, and those currently being read. Personal pages on Goodreads have privacy settings meaning users can choose to allow their books to be viewed by the public, friends only, or no one.
Our Group page will be where we lead a variety of book and movie discussions on Goodreads this year. We are starting slow this month with one movie, What If… DVD, and one book, Erasing Hell: What God Said About Eternity, and the Things We’ve Made Up (beginning January 16th). I will be leading both of these discussions. The goal is to eventually offer a variety of fiction and non-fiction books to choose from monthly. We may even have some authors join in our chats!

Mentoring Moment’s Theme for the New Year
Happy New Year!
Each year Mentoring Moments enters the new year with a theme for our upcoming posts. Last year our theme was Grace-Full Living. We shared articles on grace-full homes, grace-full seasons of life, grace-full mentoring, and grace-full outreach. Highlighting God’s grace in the everyday practicality of life was both enjoyable and challenging.
Most years we are praying and pondering right into late fall concerning our theme for the new year. Not so for 2012. Infact, by April 2011 the Lord was laying the framework for a new focus.
In 2012 Mentoring Moment’s theme will be…drumroll please…

Each week we will delve into exactly WHO Jesus Is. For January, we will discuss Jesus Is…Alpha and Omega.
In conjunction with our Jesus Is theme, we are committed to encouraging and challenging everyone to prayer and Bible reading. Unless we are studying the Bible and praying, we will never truly know who Jesus is. When deceptive teaching arises, unless we KNOW Him and His Word, we will be led astray. May it never be, dear ones!
There will be yummy recipes, adorable craft projects, and tips on frugal living for the new year too. We have also just set up a site on Goodreads.com to read books together this year. We even have some new sweet faces to introduce to you!
All of us at Mentoring Moments love, appreciate, and lift you up in prayer. We are looking forward to sharing 2012 with you!

Has God Been Faithful to You?
November 2, 2011 : Filed under Books & Media, Mentoring, News, Special Occasions, Thanksgiving 2011

During the month of November MMCW would love to share your stories of faithfulness, Scriptures of encouragement, and testimonies of grace. Articles can be any length. That includes a few short sentences, a scripture passage, or a full article reaching 500 words. Maybe your story is best told with a Scripture and a photo you took–that works too.
In addition to our daily posts, join us over on Facebook where we are doing a daily Thankfulness list this month. If you use Twitter, follow us over there too!
It would be marvelous to receive enough testimonies of God’s faithfulness to fill the entire month of daily posts. Let’s give Him all the glory and honor for all He has done in our lives. Send your stories to mentoringmoments@aol.com. Feel free to pass this along to your family and friends who may want to join in too!

Merry Christmas!
Beginning today, we are observing Christmas with a week unplugged from blogging, Twitter, and Facebook–and we encourage you to do the same. Let’s all take the time to relax and enjoy our loved ones and plan to meet back on Monday, December 27th. Then we will kick off a week of sharing all our personal favorites–blogs, websites, mentoring and leadership books, quick-fix dinners, magazines, podcasts, and ideas for indoor family fun.
May the Lord richly bless you,
The Staff of Mentoring Moments for Christian Women

We now have an About page on our blog!
Not that any of us have been avoiding it–there just hasn’t been time, and it always fell to the bottom of our To Do list. Well, not any more! If you’ve wanted to know a bit about the workings of MMCW–the hows and whys of it all, this is the place to go.
Next on the list is a bio page where you can learn more about each writer. We hope you are enjoying getting to know us through the periodic introductions. Didn’t you just love Jan’s hello this week? I learned something new–she’s a beekeeper!
Each of you are such a blessing. It is truly an honor for all of us at MMCW to get to know you.

Happy New Year!
Happy New Year from everyone at Mentoring Moments for Christian Women!
The Lord bless you and keep you;
the Lord make His face shine upon you and be gracious to you;
the Lord turn His face toward you and give you peace.”

Welcome!
October 26, 2009 : Filed under Books & Media, News
Envision the welcome mat, our door wide open, and everyone at MMCW greeting you with a warm hug into our new online home. It’s been hard work and I hope you agree its been well worth the effort.
As you visit you will notice plenty of new features, three important ones:
*Comments. We can chat! Comment on any article on our site.
*Search. Search by title or key word our entire site.
* New Writers. MMCW’s staff has more than doubled! In the coming days I will introduce them individually to you.
All of this could not have happened without the work of key individuals.
Jocelyn at A Pondering Heart Boutique who designed our beautiful site.
Sherra Humphries at Standout Impressions for making the site run and training.
Molly Evert and Vicki Huffman, our editorial board members. Molly has worked for weeks helping set the site in order while Vicki has worked tirelessly editing everything.
MMCW’s sole goal is to bring God glory through mentoring and encouraging women of all ages and seasons of life. As we built the new site, my guiding scripture has been:
“…grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be glory both now and forever!” 2 Peter 3:18 NIV
That’s my prayer for each of us.
Now, come on in… Mentoring Moments for Christian Women
