This year has been a season of change for my family. Our family has grown by two daughter-in-laws, we have moved from where we lived for twelve years to start ministry at a new church field, traveled internationally and found out I will be a grandmother. All of this in such a short period of time, it has been like living in a whirlwind.
In reflecting on what God has taught me, I believe trusting Him would be number one on the list. As a woman who needs a plan and wants to know what is next, trust hasn’t come easy. Many mornings I have woken at 3:30 or 4 AM with lists of things to do running through my mind, much of which are out of my control. I have learned to take everything, big and small, to the Lord AGAIN and leave it all there.
Time has been both my friend and enemy. I have been ready for events to get here and yet when they have arrived, they all too quickly passed. Memories will be treasured and even more thoughts pondered in the days and months ahead.
Scripture and prayer have been the true keys to keeping my sanity and peace in the midst of this whirlwind around me. Each day I start with the Word and try through the day to live it out. As my heart breaks from missing dear friends and grieve the passing seasons of my life, I dwell on the fact God is good and His ways are best.
I was wearing a shirt this week that read, “Where He leads I will follow.” A stranger came up and ask if I really meant what that shirt said. My answer to the gentleman was if I didn’t believe it I wouldn’t be here. I am trusting even when I don’t have answers or complete plans knowing that God is leading and I am to follow.
