I love clouds. We’ve lived in Toronto, in New York State, in Southern California and in Manitoba. We have traveled through most of the United States, a little in Mexico and I have been to Europe. Compared to all the places I have lived or experienced, Manitoba is by far the winner win it comes to clouds and sky.
The skies can be a richer blue than anywhere else and the clouds have so much more depth! A few years ago my husband actually did some research to see why the skies are so much more beautiful here than other places…and it’s scientifically true! (It has to do with light refraction, and other scientific stuff!)
When we drive along we often have asked the kids if they see the things we see in the sky. Do you see Snoopy? Do you see the dolphin jumping out of the water? Can you find the castle? Hey, look at that VW bug in the sky!
But you have to look quickly or the shape will shift, the wind will blow, and the picture is gone.
God creates these pictures in the sky for us. But if we don’t look, we’ll miss it. Not that they weren’t there, but that we didn’t see it.
There are other blessings in our lives that we miss because we’re not looking. And, because we missed them, we are not thankful for them.
Did you thank God for giving you breath today? Did you notice that you are still blinking regularly after all these years? Have you noticed that your skin is still waterproof and “self”-healing?
Have you thanked him for the place you have to live? Have you thanked Him for provision? Have you thanked Him for the relationships you have?
Sometimes we need someone to point to the sky and say, “Hey, do you see that camel?”
And we also need someone to point to God and say, “Hey, have you seen what He has done?”
