November: A Time of Thanksgiving

In the United States, the last Thursday in November is set aside to offer thanks, thus Thanksgiving. However, as many often complain, Thanksgiving has slowly been encroached upon for years. This year, for the first time, the retail giant Macy’s will open its doors on Thanksgiving evening to those searching for a good buy. Setting aside even one day to offer thanks to God and spend time with family and friends is becoming harder in our “I want more” world.

Understanding the story of the Pilgrims is easy, grasping the deeper meaning of thanksgiving to God for His providence in our lives can be challenging for those who do not believe. This month we’re going to do something a bit different at MMCW. We’re going to encourage one another as Ephesians 5:19 says,

“speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody with your heart to the Lord; always giving thanks for all things in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to God.”

From testimonies to videos we can all sing along to, we can all give thanks to the Lord for one another and His mighty hand in our lives. For the entire month of November we will not forget or overlook the great joy in daily being thankful to God.

If you have a testimony, a Scripture, even a favorite hymn that gives thanksgiving to God that you would like to share, feel free to. Send your submissions to mentoringmoments@aol.com.
