Rooted in Christ in 2013

Happy New Year!

My pastor recently said, “You don’t retire vision, you renew it.” Mentoring Moments has always had a simple vision ~ to encourage women daily in their walk with Jesus Christ. After seven years (it’s our birthday this month!) Mentoring Moments’ vision remains committed to encouraging women of all ages and seasons of life.

This year you will see the vision laid out in greater detail. During January the staff and I will begin to share our heart and vision. Today we  invite you to join us in 2013 in these areas:

* Reading God’s Story. It’s not too late to join us as we read through the Bible together in 2013. Read here and here for all the details. We start today by reading Genesis chapters 1 & 2. (Everyone is invited to participate ~ share this post and invite those you know!)

* A new blog! We are building a new online home and can’t wait to share it with you soon.

* 2013 theme

Being rooted in Christ begins with salvation and continues with prayer, time in the Bible and living a Spirit-filled life. The only way to yield the fruits of the Spirit in our lives is to be rooted in Christ. It’s a circle we are meant to live out. It sounds easy, yet we know the daily challenges of walking in love, joy, peace, self-control, etc.

There is a growing disconnect amongst believers when it comes to yielding/producing the fruits of the Spirit. Many can intellectually discuss the fruits of the Spirit, yet do not bear them. Why? Frank Viola explains it this way:

“Most of the talk today about the Holy Spirit is a matter of thinking/believing “the Spirit will help me” and then we try to do things in our own power.”

Let me honestly say, all of the fruits of the Spirit are not evident in my life most days because it is easy to depend on my head knowledge and strength versus walking in the Spirit. Christ dwells in each believer ~ His Holy Spirit is to teach, lead, and guide us. Together in 2013 let’s seek the Lord and yield lasting fruit. Want to join us? In January we’ll be discussing joy.

Please pray for the staff of Mentoring Moments this year. Our heart’s desire is to bring glory to the Lord with each word shared. We are praying for each of you, together let’s lift one another up and join voices to praise the Lord!

“Live lovingly, just as the Messiah also loved us and gave himself for us as an offering and sacrifice, a fragrant aroma to God.” Ephesians 5:2 ISV
