When was the last time you sat down and just thanked God for the friends He has given you?  Friends are kind of like spouses, they can become so familiar that we take them for granted  Few people get to truly know your heart.  First Corinthians 13 describes what true love is, are you a 1 Corinthians friend?  In order to have a deep friendship this kind of love must be present.

Maybe 1 Corthians 13 should read like this:

A true friend is patient and kind

She doesn’t envy what you have or boast about what she has.

She is not arrogant thinking more of herself than she ought.

She is not rude or snarky.

She isn’t insistent that things always be her way or her plan.

She isn’t irritable or resentful in her attitudes or actions.

She hurts when you hurt and does not rejoice in wrongdoings

She throws a party and rejoices in truth.

She persists with you and holds on hoping with you when things look bleak.

She holds your hand through perilous times believing and enduring.

These kinds of friendship are the forever kind and we should thank God often for them.

If you have found this kind of friend, tell her how grateful you are for her.  If you don’t have a friend like this, practice being this kind of friend and see how God deepens your friendships.
