Ministering to Single-Again Adults

There are many opportunities for the body of Christ to minister to single-again-adults that do not necessarily involve money. Holidays are especially difficult for singles, but those days can be turned to times of joy and happiness when someone reaches out to them. Expressing God’s love is not hard. Consider the following ways to bless a single again adult in your church or community.

~ Invite them to have an evening meal with your family.
~ Invite them to join you at a fast-food restaurant after a church service.
~ Offer to join a couple of other families at the single person’s home and take a potluck meal. (Call ahead to arrange a convenient day and time.) While the children are playing and the ladies are getting things ready for dinner, the men can clean the gutters, or fix the lawn mower, hang a window screen, repair a leaky faucet, clean a ceiling fan, or any number of things a women generally cannot do.
~ Offer to give the single mom a night out by keeping her kids for free and even paying for her and a friend to go to a movie, a play, out to dinner, or just to have an evening at home alone to soak in the tub without being concerned for her young children.
~ When you see Buy One Get One Free items, consider the single parent who might not be able to make that purchase at all.
~ Offer to take a single parent family to a tree farm to pick out a live Christmas tree.
~ Encourage your Sunday school class to make cards and gifts for the single parent family.
~ Help young children of single parents make cards for their parents and take the children shopping so they can give their parents a gift.
