Grace Washing
As I’m sitting here listening to the ocean, I can hear the waves both in the distance and washing over the shells behind my chair.
Listening to the sounds makes me think of the waves that come into our lives. Some are strong and powerful, while others are calm. The strong waves sometimes seem to come out of nowhere, threatening to knock us over. It’s how we react that can truly make a difference in whether we’re pushed under or we stand and become stronger on the other side of our circumstance.
The calm waves may seem weak, but they can wash over us and cleanse what does not need to be there.
As I hear the waves washing over the shells behind me, I consider God’s grace washing over His people . . . wave by wave . . . either washing away things out of our lives that need to be removed or washing repeatedly over us until, like the smooth shells on the shore, we are polished.
