What if one day your child from the time they got up until they went to sleep acted the opposite of how they should. Some of you may be shaking your head and saying, “What if… girl that is my house some days.”
How do you feel on those days? Do you go on the warpath? Do you take out the rod of discipline? Or do you run away and hide as soon as another responsible adult comes through the door? I have experienced a few of those days and can assure you it wears me out too!
I was pondering how some say, I am tired of being disciplined spiritually and doing the right thing. Some times I just want to do what I want to do.
Isn’t that like the child who wakes up doing what they want to do instead of what they know is the right thing?
How must God feel when I too do what makes me happy, even if it is not what I know He desires. I am thankful God doesn’t go on the warpath. I am thankful he does discipline me because it truly is for my best. He never runs out on me though I know He wearies of my disobedience. I have often thought having children is a great way to see with human eyes how God must feel toward us, His children.
I encourage you to stay the course you know God has for you. Don’t grow weary is doing the right things. Just as your children need to obey you because it is best for the home to function, God desires our obedience because it is best for us as well.
Reading the Bible and walking in righteousness are as basic and necessary as eating right, cleaning your home and taking a bath. These things must be done for physical health and spiritual health.
Walk as an obedient child today.
