I went to hear Pam Tebow, mother of the famed quarter back Tim Tebow, speak recently. What an anointed speaker she is, with many wonderful things to share. One of the things the Lord spoke to me about was when she asked, what’s your mission?
Ms. Tebow said missions can change with seasons of life. She shared, “Mother’s with young children, you know what your mission is.”
Don’t we often try to busy ourselves with things we think are our missions; when sometimes God’s mission for us during a particular season is just to be a wife and a mother? Please don’t misunderstand me here. I’m not implying we shouldn’t be involved in other things. I’m just pondering whether I overlook my greatest mission sometimes in search of what I think might be more fulfilling or more immediately self-gratifying.
My Upmost for His Highest devotional entry yesterday read, “Joy means the perfect fulfillment of that for which I was created and regenerated, not the successful doing of a thing. The joy Our Lord lay in doing what the Father sent Him to do. Have I received a ministry from the Lord? If so, I have to be loyal to it, to count my life precious only for the fulfilling of that ministry. Think of the satisfaction it will be to hear Jesus say – ‘Well done, good and faithful servant;’ to know that you have done what He sent you to do…There is no choice of service, only absolute loyalty…loyalty to what you discern when you are in closest contact with God. This does not imply there is a campaign of service marked out for you, but it does mean that you will have to ignore the demands for service along other lines.”
Let’s spend some time today In His Presence evaluating our “mission.”
Acts 20:24, “…so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, for which I have received of the Lord Jesus.”
