What’s Your Label?

*Affiliate links included. I had the privilege this weekend to steal away for a few hours to have some much needed quiet time with the Lord. As I prepared for my time, I was burdened with a recent episode with my daughter’s behavior. Knowing this frustration could easily distract me from what I needed to hear from the Lord, I surrendered those feelings and tried to focus on other things. Here is where that focus led. We, as humans, carry {Read More}

Dip Your Words in Honey

John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, the Word was with God and the Word was God. Our family memory verse this week was John 1:1. In an effort to help my son commit this to memory we discussed how important words are. I asked him to imagine a world without words. Can you imagine it? No talking, no writing, no emails, no texting, no news. How would we communicate? How would we function? We played a game together {Read More}

Meeting God in the Valleys

Over the last month, my family has been walking through a valley of life. My husband started experiencing chest pain right after the New Year. After an unsuccessful trip to his primary care physician, we ended up in the ER over that weekend. His symptoms were worsening and we couldn’t wait until the following Monday to see his doctor again. Thankfully, all the tests involving his heart came back normal. No signs of blockages or anything serious. Still the pain {Read More}

My Dad’s New Job

I grew up as a PK (preacher’s kid). My dad became a pastor early in marriage and continued into full-time ministry for over 40 years. Over the last 15 years his focus has been with hospice care. I look back with fond memories on my dad’s transition from the pastorate to hospice care. Not because I didn’t like being a PK, but because of the training dad received. As a pastor, my father put his all in shepherding his congregation. {Read More}

On the 4th Day of Christmas I Let Go

On the 4th day of Christmas I gave away four baby outfits. Not just any outfits, MY little girl’s clothes that I had been holding onto for years. Come to think of it, it had been 4 years! I am by no means a hoarder, but I am a sentimental gal and I love baby girl clothes. And I’m sure not every one will agree that I needed to part with these precious items. However, when I heard of the {Read More}

Mercy When I Set My Kids Up to Fail

Isaiah 40:11 says, “He will feed his flock like a shepherd. He will carry the lambs in his arms, holding them close to his heart. He will gently lead the mother sheep with their young.” Even when I set them up to fail I’m so thankful for the Lord’s mercy and patience with me as a mother. He’s gentle with me as I guide my lambs. I guess I’m learning this the hard way. We will have a few days {Read More}

Ewww, Gross Mom!

From the first moment I became a mom, I poured my entire being into loving and caring for my baby. Even though I really didn’t know what that looked like, God has an amazing design. Most of it came naturally. I cuddled, kissed, soothed, and sang to him. I knew when he was hungry and when he needed to burp. In those first few months and even years, my little baby poured love on me as well. He was so {Read More}
