I have one dessert that has been a tradition in my house for about the past three years. I wish I had found the idea when my boys were little, but it was just in time to make for my grandkiddos. Everyone enjoys them, no matter their age. The original recipe comes from Taste of Home.
PILGRIM HAT COOKIES
1 cup vanilla frosting (I use store bought or homemade)
7 drops yellow food coloring
32 miniature peanut butter cups
1 package fudge-striped cookies
32 pieces orange mini Chiclets gum (I use orange TicTacs)
In a small bowl, combine frosting and food coloring. Remove wrappers and paper liners from peanut butter cups.
Hold the bottom of a peanut butter cup, and dip the top of the cup in yellow frosting. Position over center hole on the bottom of cookie, forming the hatband and crown. Add a piece of Chiclets (or TicTacs) for buckle on hat. Repeat with remaining cups and cookies.
Arrange on a platter and enjoy!
