I received an incredible blessing recently.  A new friend went on a month-long trip to the UK  and gifted me with a set of her house keys.  I took advantage of her generous hospitality and spent a very relaxing night and day at her house.

Not only is her place calm, relaxing, refreshing and much tidier than mine – the organized feel of the place helped my chaotic self settle down quickly.

Her color palette was soothing.  The furniture was incredibly comfy.  The rich dark woods helped make it seem homey.

Yet with all the beautiful decorating, perfectly placed everything and to-die-for view, the thing that I found most incredible was hanging in the bathroom!  I saw it as soon as I walked in.  Then I stood in front of it in awe.

Questions raced through my mind:  How does someone think up such easy, organization?  How come I’ve never thought of this?

Yes, it’s a simple cork board, about ½” in depth.  There are a whole lot (maybe a package full) of colorful head pins stuck into it in straight rows, evenly spaced apart.  (My guess is she used a ruler or something, because I know I couldn’t eyeball anything that perfectly straight!)

She’s hung her earrings on the top row, her bracelets and bangles a little lower, and on the very bottom row hang all her necklaces.

I don’t know how you organize yours, but mine are… well, let’s just say I haven’t worn necklaces for a while and part of the reason is because I can’t get the knot undone.

I can usually find all kinds of earrings, just not usually two from the same pair on the same day.

When I think about my daughters’ jewelery collection, things only get worse.  I recently moved my bed to another wall and found a pair my oldest daughter has been looking for since fall.  (Good thing the vacuum didn’t reach that far!)

I’ll be heading out to find some cork board and a few packages of head pins.  My plan is to turn my Jewelery junk-heap into Jewelery Joy!
