What inspires you? Or, more importantly, how is God inspiring you these days?
Let me tell you how God inspired Page Hughes, Chaplain Ken, and a Facebook community to be His hands and feet last week.
On Thursday, Page was prompted by the Lord to deliver some school supplies to Churchill Downs in Kentucky. Unknown to her at the time was the need facing the workers’ children at Churchill Downs. The church that usually sponsors the workers’ children’s backpacks for school had decided not to do it this year.
The chaplain began to pray.
“When I knocked on the chaplain’s door, he was so grateful and told [me] what had happened. I told him I would see what I could do about getting some backpacks. I asked how many were needed. He said 30. I did not promise we could get all of them, but I told him I would see what I could do.”
Page began to pray.
Page posted the need for backpacks and supplies on Facebook that same day–Thursday, July 31st.
“Since yesterday morning [July 31st] God has provided all 30 backpacks filled with school supplies needed. Now that is a God-size miracle my friends! I want to give Him all of the praise, honor and glory!” Page shared Friday on Facebook.
Psalms 66:5 says, “Come and see the works of God, His acts toward mankind are awe-inspiring.” HCSB
It’s the truth! God’s acts towards us are awe-inspiring. When He moves on our hearts through prompting, He is inspiring us to move on His behalf. Our Christian life is infused with God at work in all areas to bring glory to His name.
Why are 30 backpacks so important beyond the obvious? Here’s how Page explains it, “I wanted to share with you guys because I am sure there are many of you who are facing some pretty big things. Pray. Trust God just like Chaplain Ken Boehm did last week. God will come through. He may not answer like you thought He would, but He will come through.”
Psalms 65:8 says, “Those who live at the ends of the earth stand in awe of Your wonders. From where the sun rises to where it sets, You inspire shouts of joy.”
When God works, it inspires shouts of joy.
When God inspires, or as some use the word, prompts, we should listen carefully. It all starts with prayer and knowing God’s Word. Then, doing what He leads us to do, not for our own glory, but for His.
