Friday Inspiration

1. Favorite Road Trip Snack

Since I was on a road trip over the weekend, I had a bountiful stash of snacks and treats. I tried the Chex Mix “Sweet and Salty” for the first time on the trip and it was awesome. It wasn’t too sweet, but it wasn’t bland like I feel original Chex Mix can be.

2. Inspiring Blog

Megan Scheibner and her husband Steve are a homeschooling family of eight. I’ve only been following her blog, Building Character – Making Memories, for a short while, but it seems like each one hits me right where I am that day or week. This was one of those entries: “When Abounding Opportunities Become What Have I Gotten Myself Into.” This fall season has quickly become more busy than I anticipated. I planned for Bible study, homeschool co-op, karate, and ballet. I didn’t really plan for the things I would feel the Lord “tug” me to do along the way. And the day I read this blog, something was added to my plate that brought me to the place of “Oh no, Lord, I can’t do this! I need You!” Isn’t that just where He wants us? And the Lord knows what we need before we need it. This blog continues to remind me of that truth.

3. Favorite Candy

Chewy Spree has been a long time favorite of mine. I keep them handy at my sewing table. I am not a fan of gum. But I do like to have something to snack on while I sew and create.

4. Inspiring Ministry

I attended the dotMOM conference in Nashville, TN, over the weekend. There I heard Steve and Debbie Wilson speak about marriage. They lead a ministry called Marriage Matters Now. One thing Debbie speaks about specifically is how she learned that her irritability affected her whole family. It is a priceless lesson as a young mother when we can easily blame our mood on a certain time frame or lack of sleep. The Wilsons have many resources for couples and parents.

What are some of your favorite resources? We would love to share them in our Friday Inspiration series.
