Cindy Sampson was saved as a child in her home in Defuniak, Florida as she watched a Billy Graham crusade on television. She knew she was a sinner and needed Jesus so when Graham asked those who wanted to be saved to pray she did. Though she was young and the only one in her home who desired to go to church, she asked neighboring families weekly for rides to area churches. As she grew up, God revealed Himself to Cindy through Christian music and Christian authors.
When she became a medical professional, Cindy began taking medical mission trips and has visited many countries sharing the love of Jesus. Fifteen years ago she started planning medical mission trips and building teams to go with the specific goal of sharing the message of salvation with everyone who came to the clinics. She has challenged many of us through the years to step out on faith and trust God to provide financially to go on mission trips when we did not think we could afford to go. She would say, “If God has called you He will provide.” He did and our faith was built. Today there are several former team members who serve churches as Mission Ministers and many others who are growing faithful members of the Kingdom.
Thirteen years ago Cindy challenged me to read the Bible through with her. I wish I could say that I jumped at the opportunity, but I did not. I told her I was already involved in two other studies and just could not. That year she sent me emails of things God was teaching her. After several months I was jealous of all she was learning, so the next year when she asked again I agreed. We have read the Bible through each year except one since. That year we focused on prayer and just read through the New Testament. Each year we have learned so much. This year when Mentoring Moments asked me about hosting the read through the Bible in 2013 I asked if I could ask my friend to help host. They agreed and many of you have joined Cindy and I as we have all walked through the Bible together. I know you have grown to love her insights and words of challenge.
God has used this precious woman of faith and her faithful testimony to challenge so many in their walk with Jesus.
