The Harbinger, by Rabbi Jonathan Cahn, is a spellbinding page-turner, but it’s more than that. Like the meaning of the word harbinger, it foreshadows what could be ahead and warns America to return to God. Cahn uses Isaiah 9:10 to compare the arrogance of Israel during 700 BC to America’s current spirit of defiance toward God. We know that God judged Israel; is America ripe for God’s judgment if we don’t repent?

Although written as a fictional story with dialogue among three characters, the author writes, “What is contained within the story is real.” Cahn researched the events of the destruction of the World Trade center on 9-11 and the collapse of the global economy. Then he combined information about those events with biblical revelation. The parallels he found between ancient Israel and America are shocking and reveal nine harbingers of judgment that have reappeared on American soil.

With hundreds of book reviews on the Internet, it’s obvious this New York Times bestseller has created quite a stir. There’s also a popular Christian movie based on the book: Isaiah 9:10 Judgment. I believe this captivating book is a wake-up call for all of us and a call to pray for repentance in America. Why not read The Harbinger and see what you think?
