The Best of John Wesley on Prayer

A small book at just 96 pages,  The Best Of John Wesley is filled with powerful insights on prayer. Drawn from his various sermons and pamphlets, each page offers a Scripture and meat to consider regarding prayer in everyday life. A variety of topics are expounded on in relation to prayer such as faith, grace, prayer in conflict, in light of eternity, in the spirit of gentleness, through temptation, crying out for God’s goodness among a few.

The Best Of John Wesley sits on my nightstand. Since January I have read and reread many of the passages, and each time have been blessed and encouraged to pray ever more fervently. I recommend this book for daily devotional / quiet time reading before Bible study and prayer.

Prayer is certainly the grand means of drawing near to God, and all other means are helpful to us only so far as they are mixed with, or prepare us for, this. ~ John Wesley
