Monday Madness

It starts on Sunday evening. My stomach get tight, my brain starts working overtime, and I get a little anxious. This has happened to me since Kindergarten – you can ask my mom! It’s not because I don’t love Sundays – I do! As a matter of fact they are my favorite day of the week. It’s Mondays I’m not so fond of. Everyone is a little more tired on Monday than usual even if bedtimes were kept rigidly. We’re {Read More}

What Pimples Prove

My youngest daughter was standing in the kitchen ready to practice her violin.  Her oldest sister said, “What’s on your cheek?” “Nothing.  Just a red spot,” replied the youngest. Two other kids crowded around her instantly, pressing their faces close to hers to inspect this “red spot.” “Hey, you’ve got a pimple!” her sister announced. “No,” countered her brother, “it’s a real live ZIT!” So she ran off to the bathroom to check it out.  Could it be true?  Could {Read More}

Homes Opened to the World

Have you ever been overseas, across the country, or just so far away from home you don’t see  family or friends often. if at all?  I have.  I have and I’m sure some of you have. One of the loneliest times for me were the holidays and weekends. Everyone else was spending time with family – at least it seemed so. I’d sit at home wondering if I’d ever have a social life, fit into the new community or find {Read More}

Holy Spirit Spell Checker

If you’ve ever spelled a word wrong while typing on the computer you know how possible it is to type a word wrong but not have the spell-checker ‘catch’ the mistake. For example…I might want to write about my “favourite characters in a book.”  But if I’ve spelled something wrong it might look more like my “fever it correctors in a book.” That happened to be only one of several problems in a recently handed-in homeschool assignment I had given {Read More}

My Moment in the Hole

I stopped at Tim Horton’s on my way to cello lessons with three of my kids.  (For all you non-Canadians, Tim Horton’s is Canada’s coffee shop of choice!)  We’d just finished one and a half hours of violin, a stop at Costco and a quick run into Petland in the afternoon.  My morning had been full of grocery shopping, guitar lessons, voice lessons, a library visit and a quick trip to the Thrift Shop. During the drive from violin to {Read More}

Grace: Do I Really Understand?

Grace. I know what it means.  I think. I’ve experienced it, because of the grace of Jesus. But do I really understand it? Recently I attended a Prayer Summit at our church. I love these events. We join as a corporate body and pray together as the leader directs.  Sometimes for lost souls in our community and families, other times for healing, then for revival in our nation. This particular Prayer Summit the focus was on asking Jesus what He {Read More}

Show Me How: To Get a Gravatar

First of all… what is a Gravatar?  I asked the same thing not so long ago.  It sounded like a horrible thing, and I wasn’t really sure I wanted something that sounded like that.  But I’ve found out it is something quite friendly. And it helps the people around the web know you as friendly, too! A gravatar is simply a picture, image or icon you use to identify yourself with around the web.  You may have been to blogs {Read More}
