Learning How to Sit

“Be still, and know that I am God” Psalm 46:10 NIV

Sitting still is hard for my young children–and it’s hard for me too. The world says go, go, go while the Lord says sit at my feet. Choosing to be still–and know He is God on a daily basis through prayer and Bible study brings refreshment to weary hearts.

My pastor shared Sunday three reasons why daily time before the Lord is imperative for all of us:

1. To clean our life and order our day.

2. Remind us God is in charge.

3. To show us what is true so we can recognize what is false.

None of this happens by chance. It takes some hard actions–stopping , sitting still, and letting go of the cares of this world to rest in His presence.

Cease striving and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” Psalm 46:10 NASB

Let go [of your concerns]! Then you will know that I am God. I rule the nations. I rule the earth.” Psalm 46:10 God’s Word Translation

How are you sitting still before the Lord today and what benefits have you experienced?
