Winds of Change

Have you noticed the winds of change? Politics, economics, sexual orientation, parenting, religion…everywhere you turn there’s something new and, often disturbing, to learn about. Things are a-changing.

When I was a young teen, parents raised their kids; they didn’t expect schools to raise their kids. Boys fell in love with girls, not boys. Women married men, not other women. The constitution was rock solid, not meant to be rewritten whenever we didn’t like something in it. Money was attainable because jobs were available.

Now everything is new.

The winds of change are blowing across our culture. Some days it has me worried…not for me but for the generations still to come. I see the winds shift and things spinning out of control. Sometimes I wish someone would just show up and DO something! Get this crazed world under control!

And He will. Jesus promised to show up and set everything right. But until then, the most normal thing we can expect is change.

Ecclesiastes says that there is nothing new under the sun. Nothing. So all this new-fangled evil that seems to be scaring us and shocking our senses is not as new as it seems. The good thing about that is it is proof God can handle it. He’s handled it all before. Different people, different cultures, different eras, but the problems are still the same.

So if God handled things fine then, He’ll handle them fine now.

I’ll let the winds of change blow and twist things as they will. But I will not have my eyes focused on the direction of the wind, but rather on the One who controls it.
