Spring Bulb Exchange

spring bulb exchange

The weather is finally warming up.  It is a perfect time to get to know your neighbors better and have some fun.  Why not invite them over for a spring bulb exchange.  Many perennial flowers are grown from bulbs.  They need to be dug up periodically and separated.  Ask your neighbors to dig a few of their bulbs up and share them with others.  In return they will receive bulbs to plant for next spring.

Send a fun invitation or send a flower with a personal invite.

Prepare easy refreshments, butter cookies, and lemonade or even hot tea.

Have a plastic bag or cute basket ready for each guest to gather their bulbs in to take home.

What if your friend does not have perennials in her yard?  No problem.  Home and garden stores have them inexpensively this time of year.

Enjoy getting to know your neighbors better and maybe even have each share about their favorite flower.  Ask each lady to tell about the bulb she will be sharing with her friends.  Have them include any information that would be helpful in care of the bulb, such as does it prefer full sun or shade?  Does it like a wetter area of the lawn or garden?  Is there any special care that is necessary?

If you would like to connect your party with a gospel message, share with your ladies that just as the perennial flower comes back after the death of winter so does a believer know new life again because of Jesus Christ and what He did for us on the cross.  Take time to talk about how your life is different because of what Christ has done for you and that one day you too will die on earth to be renewed in heaven
