“No one can sum up all God is able to accomplish through one solitary life, wholly yielded, adjusted, and obedient to Him.” D.L. Moody

In Mentoring Moment’s mailbag, I would say the number one question asked is requesting help in locating a mentor. Finding a godly Christian woman who lives her life walking by the Spirit should be an easy task. However, most of us know how difficult it can be, especially when one is desperate for godly instruction.

The mentors I’ve been blessed with over the years are all different, each placed in my life by God for a specific season. Some walked alongside me for years, while others were around only for a brief meeting. Each woman inspired and challenged me to walk with clear focus toward one goal: Christ.

Women who are filled with the Spirit all have one thing in common, their lives bear the fruits of the Spirit. These are the mentors we all should look for and strive to learn from.

“Those who teach by their doctrine must teach by their life, or else they pull down with one hand what they build up with the other.” Matthew Henry

Since January Mentoring Moments has written extensively on the nine fruits of the Spirit in our series Rooted in Christ: Yielding Fruits of the Spirit in 2013. MMCW’s staff has shared personal testimonies, devotions, and thoughts on their importance daily. What does a study on the fruits of the Spirit have to do with mentoring? Everything.

As Rooted in Christ: Yielding the Fruits of the Spirit in 2013 draws to a close, the ladies and I at MMCW want to do something special. Something we haven’t done before.

First, we will be introducing you to the women who have influenced, inspired, challenged and mentored us. You may be a bit surprised by the simplicity of mentoring. We pray you are both inspired to seek a mentor and become one too.

The next part involves you and your mentoring story. Yes, your story.

Would you like to be a guest blogger and share your testimony of how God is using or used a godly woman in your life? Someone whose life bears the lasting fruit of the Spirit consistently?  Send your story to mentoringmoments@aol.com.

As Elizabeth George says, “There is always someone younger than us to mentor and someone older than us to be mentored by.” In October let’s encourage one another with inspiring stories of godly mentors who exhibit the lasting fruits of the Spirit.
