Purpose: The purpose of a Handmade with Love Christmas party is to gather with friends for fun and fellowship. It also provides an opportunity to give a gospel presentation.
Invitation:
Please join us for a Handmade With Love Party (Give time and place)
We will eat homemade goodies and have lots of fun. Please bring one “handmade” item wrapped as a gift to exchange. It can be something you baked, a craft you made, or an item you purchased and enhanced. Everyone will go home with a handmade gift.
Decorations: You may want to decorate with handmade quilts, crafts, recipe cards, old pictures or any other handmade item. You could serve your handmade goodies on old china or serve drinks out of cups that you decorate at the party.
Share the Handmade with Love Devotion, which is based on Psalm 139: 13-16.
Just for Fun: Create your own cup. Purchase inexpensive plastic cups and paint markers. Encourage guests to decorate their cups as they come in. Then you can use them as you serve refreshments.
Have a gift exchange using the gifts each guest has brought. Have a few extra gifts in case someone forgot to bring a gift .
Take home favor: Handmade pickles or homemade goodies make a great take home favor. You could also make homemade crafts or ornaments and give them to each person as they leave. You may want to include a card letting your guest know you will be praying for them or sharing a favorite verse of scripture.
One last note: remember to enjoy your guests. Keep them as your focus, not your home or what you will serve to eat. Allow God to love them through you. Romans 12:13 reminds us “Help those in need, practice hospitality.”
