women of the secret place

Women of the Secret Place is a unique Christian read by Ruth Carmichael Ellinger  and her friends, including MMCW writer Daphne Tarango. Filled with personal stories of God’s faithfulness in the hard places of life, this book is filled with hope and encouragement.

Containing fifty-two chapters, each is a new testimony of God in the midst of loss, abundance, sorrow, and joy. The book slipped up on me in power. The more I read, the more I began to recognize my own life situations. It was an encouragement to read of how God moved tenderly and miraculously on behalf of these women. Their words of His faithfulness were a reminder of His hand at work in my own life.

Women of the Secret Place reminds each of us how important the details of our lives are to our loving God. From a Mom crying out for deliverance from an unbearable headache, siblings laughing and crying over family recipes collected and written on scraps of paper, to the fading eyesight of Ellinger who humbly shares her journey, readers will laugh, cry, and be inspired.

This book would be a marvelous book club read as the diversity of writing styles and situations will invite good discussion. From humor to tears, readers experience it all. It would also be a thoughtful gift for a sister in Christ who needs reminding of God’s healing and comfort.
