Book Review: Southern Fried Sushi

I had a little trouble getting into Southern Fried Sushi by Jennifer Rogers Spinola at first. I have never traveled to Japan and a few of the words were super foreign to me, but it did not take long to adjust and begin to feel for Jennifer’s characters and their less-than-perfect choices.

The setting for Southern Fried Sushi begins in Japan. Through difficult circumstances Shiloh, a young Associated Press writer, finds herself in a very southern community of Virginia complete with Civil War re-enactments. She feels like a stranger in her own home country and yet as the story develops she learns much about herself and what true love and forgiveness is all about. I was challenged as a woman of faith to walk out what I believe as well as to forgive generously and to truly see those around me. You will be blessed if you invest the time to not just read but also ponder Southern Fried Sushi.
