I’m Kellie Renfroe and along with two dear friends, Rhonda Ellis and Loi Palmer, I started Mentoring Moments in 2005. The God-size dream first came in 1993 after purchasing my first computer. Back then I did not even know what the Internet was!

Before having children, I worked as a newspaper reporter, graphic artist, and even dabbled in pre-press work. When my first child came along in 1993 I realized how much I needed the support, advice and mentoring of godly women. At that point, no one was talking about mentoring and even my church did not know how to help. Praise the Lord for the growth during that period of women’s Bible studies!

The Lord brought Rhonda and Loi into my life through business around 1996. Over the years we talked about how the Lord was speaking to our hearts about encouraging women. In 2005 after weeks of prayer, I called each lady and was amazed to hear how the Lord had been dealing with their hearts too. We did not have a clear-cut path, just a knowledge that the Lord wanted us to begin actively speaking encouragement and godly, practical how-tos into the lives of women.

We agreed to step out in faith and started a monthly email newsletter. Thinking the first month would go just to close family and friends, we were astonished to be able to send it to 486 readers. Within a few months the newsletter exploded and in a year we reached 5,000! At that point we switched to a website and finally to our current blog. We quickly realized we needed help, especially in the form of an editor. The Lord blessed us with Vicki Huffman who years before was my editor at a local newspaper.

Nowadays I’m a stay-at-home homeschooling mom of four and wife to Greg. January 2014 marks 25 years of marriage to my best friend. Our children (three boys and a princess) are 20, 14, 12, and 9. Yes, that means we have one in elementary, one in middle, one in high school, and one in college. In addition to Mentoring Moments I have a personal blog, Citizen Mama, and a Facebook page called Free & Frugal Books. At Free & Frugal Books I post links to free and greatly reduced Christian Kindle books.
