If you are reading this, you must be wondering who the new girl on the block is. I just moved in here at MMCW and I’m here to stay. My first name is simply Emily and my middle name is Beth, but I go by “Emily Beth” to be different, and to verify my difference: I drive a Pearl Nissan Cube rightly named “Pearl.” I am currently 22.5 years young, a full-time student at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary (SWBTS) and I work at the Horner Homemaking House on campus. Jesus called me here to get my Masters in Christian Education with an emphasis in Home Economics. This is a new program at SWBTS and I am honored to be blazing the trail! My passion is the home and it is truly a joy to me to “make a home!”

I am the only daughter of Jack and Laura Leathers (my mom writes for MMCW as well!). I have three brothers whom I love. I’m the proud aunt to two handsome nephews and a beautiful niece. I’m a country girl at heart, but a proud new city girl! I grew up helping my Papa and brothers with the cattle, helping build fences, as well as having a tea party with fine china and dressing up in high heels and makeup. My parents showed me how to have a full life with many opportunities.

My salvation in Christ occurred at the age of 6, and by age 9, I knew the Lord called me to ministry. My mom was there every step of the way as I was given a vast array of occasions to use new gifts and talents the Lord was growing in me. As I went to Blue Mountain College, I realized my passion was the home and family. The Lord cultivated those passions and I have since answered when wondering people ask, “What do you want to do with your life?”— “I’m called to be a wife and mom.” God uses wives and moms just as He uses missionaries in China. As Dr. Patterson, President of SWBTS, is quoted as saying, “As the home goes, so goes the Church.”

I’m constantly learning, growing, and changing. Stagnancy in our relationship with Christ and life in general is simply not acceptable to me; therefore, I want to always have an open heart to His plans, His ways, and His nature. It is an honor to be writing often for MMCW, and I look forward to what God has in store!

Learning to love Jesus more,

Emily Beth
