Cozy Dining Outside

Weather permitting, consider enjoying dinner outside by throwing sleeping bags, quilts, and throws over lawn chairs to keep warm. To re-create Loi’s design, begin by covering patio tables with simple white tablecloths or sheets. For drinking glasses, use inexpensive Mason jars that can be found at Wal-Mart, Big Lots or many other stores. No fall dishes? Loi’s came from an outlet for $1.99. Check stores such as Garden Ridge and local dollar stores (Dollar Tree is a good chain store) {Read More}

Pumpkin Centerpieces

Loi Palmer’s pumpkin centerpieces will be the highlight of your Thanksgiving tables this year. To make the centerpieces, use real pumpkins and poke small holes in the top to stick in fall floral picks. Loi used picks from Hobby Lobby that included beaded leaves and a pheasant with feathers. Finish the centerpieces with raffia and place green apples and votive candles amongst the raffia. When the season is over, remove decorative picks and raffia and store for next year.

Family Communion

Autumn-Leaves-150

For many years we have held Communion after Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner. It was first hosted by my late husband. After his death we had one of our male guests take over for the next many years until my sons were old enough to host it. For many who have joined us at these seasonal meals this is a new concept to have Communion outside the church. But, we believe that this is an appropriate time to remember what the {Read More}
